Smart Metering

What is smart metering?

Ofgem* describes smart metering as ‘metering arrangements that have two-way communications between a meter and the data collector (electricity) or supplier (gas)’. It’s the two way communications that’s the defining characteristic of smart metering – unlike AMR which is predominantly outbound communications only.

All Stark’s smart metering products conform to Ofgem’s definition and, by using SMS text messaging to read the meters instead of costly fixed telephone lines, we’ve made automatic meter reading affordable across all market sectors.

We supply and install the following smart metering products, featuring wireless communications:

Electricity:

Iskraemeco ME372 (1 Phase)

Iskraemeco MT375 (3 Phase)

Gas:

Iskraemeco P2G gas logger

Water:

Iskraemeco P2W water logger

Key benefits

  • affordable, remote meter-reading service for all utility supplies
  • lower-cost hardware through innovative meter design
  • reduced operating costs, via SMS text messaging
