Background
Over the last six years, award-winning property development company, London Square, has worked regularly with Stark Works on major gas connection projects in and around London. The relationship between the two organisations has proven to be the key to success.
They now have numerous multi-million-pound developments in the capital, creating much-needed new homes and communities.
The project
The latest London Square project with Stark Works is a 104 mixed unit residential development of luxury apartments and houses, at Walton-on-Thames, in Surrey. Stark Works was commissioned as a gas transporter as well as providing gas connections, meter installation and meter asset management for the entire site. As an IGT, Stark Works was able to quote based on asset value, making the price more advantageous to London Square.
10 phases
The work was scheduled in 10 phases beginning with the connection to the existing cast iron main in December 2020. Despite some delays because of COVID-19, Stark Works Senior Project Manager, Joanna Loxley, says things have gone smoothly because of the strength of the relationship between the two companies. “It’s about good communication,” she says, “They keep us updated and we keep them updated.”
Connection to the existing main, involved running a new 125mm low pressure main under the road and Stark Works had to apply to Surrey County Council for a road closure and this was factored into the cost of the project.
