The Customer Challenge
Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust required a reliable charging infrastructure to support their growing fleet of electric ambulances and service vehicles.
Energy capacity constraints and a lack of visibility into existing systems made planning difficult without expert guidance.
With its electricity data already in Stark ID, our team could accurately analyse available capacity across their sites.

The Solution
Stark implemented a comprehensive, phased approach for Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust that addressed immediate needs while building for the future:
Phase 1: Strategic New Installations
Facing energy capacity constraints, Stark Charge began with a detailed data analysis of Kent and Medway’s distribution centres.
Rather than installing an arbitrary number of chargers, Stark analysed available capacity to determine the optimal number and placement of charging points.
This data-driven approach resulted in the installation of nine 22kW sockets across three critical sites, maximising charging capability.
Phase 2: Integration of Existing Infrastructure
Beyond solving the immediate need for ambulance charging infrastructure, Kent and Medway discovered two existing chargers at another site.
These basic “plug and play” 7kWs lacked data visibility, maintenance and control.
As they were OCPP compliant chargers, Stark were able to take over providing Kent and Medway with consolidated visibility and control across all charging assets.
Ongoing Expansion: Meeting Growing Demands
As additional departments within the Trust began electrifying their fleets, Stark continued deploying new charging points.
This natural expansion has supported non-clinical departments like catering, with all implementations guided by Stark’s data-first approach.
