Our stand design was the only ‘shell scheme’ stand to have won this international award, a huge achievement considering the challenge of its structural limitations.

We talked to our Brand Manager Kim Walker who designed the stand about the news.

Tell us a bit about the event and why we attended?

EMEX, an energy management trade show, was a great opportunity for us to showcase our new energy analytics platform Stark ID, push the brand refresh and talk about our other new services like Gas MAM and sub-metering.

What was your approach to the stand design?

These three key event goals guided the focus of the stand design, keeping the message simple and the look bold and clear.

To achieve this, the stand really needed to be a functional space. First and foremost, it had to attract attention from afar in such a busy trade show environment with hundreds of stands fighting for attention. It also needed to offer as much space as possible for conversations with our teams who could offer demonstrations on Stark ID, a challenge considering the very small floor area. Clutter was not an option!

What else do you think set our stand apart in the awards?

I think there are two main things. The bold wall graphics produced by Shell-Clad were sharp and seamless, which really helped to distract from the shell scheme structure that can often be really ugly if not disguised properly. These panels along with a white carpet and matching cabinet graphics worked really well together to showcase our strong brand identity.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, several of the stand’s components are reusable, interchangeable or recycled. This has not only reduced future event costs, but has massively reduced the waste each event incurs, a common issue for event exhibitors.

In the same way that we know single use plastics should be avoided, I think all exhibitors should all try and avoid single use stand components and invest in environmentally friendly and reusable alternatives. This is a huge priority as we move forward and attend future events.

How do you feel about winning the award?

Winning this award has been the icing on the cake for what was a very successful event. We had a great time catching up with customers, received valuable feedback on Stark ID, and introduced our Stark brand to lots of new prospects. It is a testament to the hard work and collaboration between our Sales, Marketing and Product teams.

It goes to show that you don’t need to spend thousands on a custom build stand to create impact. It’s about being creative with what you have and staying focused on the vision and event goals.
