Purpose

To lead, formulate and deliver the company HS&E strategy in the regulated and unregulated businesses across the Stark Group.

To uphold and maintain Squire Energy Ltd ISO 14001 Environment and 9001 Quality accreditations and Stark Technical Services 18001 Organisational Health & Safety, 9001 Quality and 14001 Environment accreditations.

This role will lead on all health, safety & environmental matters, in addition providing support where required across the group on a range of compliance and HS&E activities, ensuring all central key performance indicators are followed, collating health and safety performance and reporting regularly to all key stakeholders and to the Board.

This role will be an influential adviser to the Group business leaders; build their understanding of processes, standards, and best practices, including process safety management, behavioural-based safety, health and wellbeing, site all gas safety projects whistly also ensuring the company has robust risk management systems in place to meet regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  •      Review and counter sign the iGT Safety Case and undertake all liaison, updates, meetings and Safety Case amendments as required with and by the HSE
  •      Assist Quality and Systems Management team in the review of contractor/service provider Pre-Qualification Documents
  •      Provide technical health and safety advice and guidance to the Group Management Team supporting a range of health and safety projects and initiatives including, but not limited to, supporting the group health and safety committees, risk management, monitoring processes and identifying refinements and improvements
  •      Understand the Group HS&E policies and procedures and assist stakeholders and managers in ensuring these are implemented, controlled, managed and reported
  •      Provide guidance and input to Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  •      Carry out as periodic inspections of Group assets (gas and power) as per the Group quality and assurance procedures and Safety Case
  •      Agree inspection criteria with the project leaders and departmental heads with H&S responsibility
  •      Regularly review accident, incident etc. data to identify trends, and report statistics and feedback trend analysis to the Group Board, produce and present reports on overall HSE performance
  •      Monitor changes and updates to relevant H&S legislation and regulations to ensure compliance at all times and oversee sign off by departmental heads
  •      Assist process owners in monitoring contractors and service providers in an assurance/governance role
  •      Provide assistance to service providers to enable them to meet the group health and safety requirements
  •      Support internal compliance audits of relevant certified management systems and provide support for external audits of the same
  •      Ensure H&S Induction training with new starters is carried out appropriate to their job role ensuring they have also been issued with the appropriate PPE
  •      Support development of H&S training and promote the accident and incident free vision across all operations
  •      Participate in Group H&S committee meetings, ensuring actions are assigned and followed up
  •      Understand the group overall business objectives and work to achieving these

Technical Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

  •      Minimum of 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  •      Currently working or recently having worked at a senior health and safety level within the construction or utility industry sectors
  •      Experience with electrical installs/electricity metering
  •      Experience with both field and office teams, and to recognise the different needs in areas of H&S for both
  •      Robust in risk management and completing thorough risk assessments
  •      Ability to cope with pressure and work to tight deadlines
  •      NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction, or working towards
  •      IGEM Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards
  •      NEBOSH National General Certificate, or working towards
  •      Membership of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM)
  •      Keep up to date with advances in business area, new methods and ways of working

Your performance and development in the role will be discussed with you in a quarterly Personal Development Review (PDR) meeting. Your performance will be measured by:

  •      assessment of achievement of personal and team objectives
  •      assessment against competencies defined in this Job Profile
